Girls' Night Out

Afternoon karaoke. Poquitos for dinner and margaritas. Cupcake Royale. Quick stop for a photo booth shoot. Anjelah Nicole Johnson. Side ache from laughing so hard. Dance party. Late night swing session at the park. Staying up WAY past my bedtime.

Btw, I love Instagram.

Now that's what I call a successful ladies night.

Geaux Huskies

It's official! Mr. Malone and I booked our tickets to Louisiana last night. Looking forward to seeing New Orleans for the first time and (hopefully!) a Husky victory over the LSU Tigers. And what girl doesn't love a good Southern accent?!

Zucchini Bread

I obviously kept myself busy over the snow days. Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS
3 C flour
3 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
3 C grated zucchini (I used two zucchini, but it depends on the size)
2 C sugar
1 C vegetable oil
3 eggs
3 tsp vanilla extract

*Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
*Lightly grease two loaf pans with cooking spray.
*In a small bowl, combine dry ingredients.
*In a medium bowl, combine wet ingredients. Gently fold in zucchini.
*Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing thoroughly.
*Divide mixture into both pans and bake for 45-60 minutes. (Ovens vary! My bread was done after 45 minutes, so make sure you check with a toothpick or a knife before removing.)

Blizzaster 2012

In case you have been living under a rock the past couple of days, Seattle got hit with some snow. Like any true Seattle-ite, I was wary of the predictions. Ten to fourteen inches? Riiight, I'll believe it when I see it.

I am not a big snow person, but I love looking at it. Today, however, was a SNOW DAY! Any time you can get paid to stay at home is pretty superb. And it was extremely productive. Mr. Malone put in four hours of work, I was busy cleaning the kitchen, and I also tried out a new recipe.

Pre-roasting.
The finished product - not too shabby.

We also took a brief walk around the 'hood. You didn't think I would miss an opportunity to try out the "Snow" setting on my new camera, did you?!

Neighborhood Watch

Annnnnd, it just would not have been right to NOT take advantage of day drinking.

Hope you all survived Seattle Snowpocalypse!

Read It: Bossypants

I love to read. I love talking. I love people. Therefore, I should recommend books to people. (I know, it's shocking I'm not a philosopher after coming up with that theory.)

For my birthday, I received a copy of Bossypants by Tina Fey. (Thanks, Emily!) I love me some Tina Fey! I may or may not want to be Tina Fey, more so after reading this book. I think what made this book so enjoyable was the fact I could hear her voice while reading it. All this means is that I pictured Liz Lemon reciting it to me in the writer's room of 30 Rock. Once I started the book, I knew I wasn't going to be able to take it out in public - it was laugh out loud funny.

I did have one complaint, though. There was simply not enough about K to the N to the O-P-E (she's the finest little shorty in all of Pawnee.... Indiana). If you do not get that reference, I am not only saddened by your lack of John Ralphio quoting skills, but disappointed that you do not know Amy Poehler's alter ego on Parks & Rec. I was expecting three, maybe even four chapters, on their friendship... not the case. I guess this means Amy needs to come out with a book ASAP.

I definitely recommend this for anybody looking for a light read and a good laugh! If you're looking for techniques on how to properly manage a hedge fund... well, you may want to look elsewhere.

Sigh of Relief

What's that sound you hear?
Could it be me jumping for joy and clicking my heels?
Or could it be some coin STAYING in my bank account?

That's right. My friend Weight has left the building, er, my shoulders.

hello new year, goodbye student loans
