A trip to Portland and shopping go hand-in-hand. (No sales tax - duh!)

What I really needed was a bathing suit for our upcoming Hawaii trip, but didn't have much luck. Instead of going home empty handed wristed, I picked up a couple of bracelets and a new pair of earrings.

I don't know if it is all of the HGTV I've been watching or what, but all I want to do is buy furniture.

With the exception of the chandelier and the side tables, I'm loving this bedroom set-up. The headboard, the cozy linens, and the bright pop of color from the lamps. I wouldn't be upset about waking up in this room.

I am dying for a table like this. I love that there is the ability to dress it up, or down, depending on the chairs selected. It just screams "home" to me. As much as I love a darker finish, I am actually okay with the light color of this table.

Floppy Hat

With our trip to Hawaii quickly approaching, I have started my search for new bathing suits and warm-weather apparel. (Does everybody else hate bathing suit shopping as much as I do? Where can I go where I won't hate it?!)

While perusing some of my favorite sites, I thought that I may need a hat. And not just any hat... a floppy one.

Sad story - Mr. Malone and I never really celebrated our wedding anniversary. Well, I take that back. We did celebrate, but we have yet to fulfill our gift to each other: the gift of cotton.

Did you know that someone had the time created a list of traditional anniversary gifts that correspond with each year? Seriously - check it out.

A friend of mine gave me a coupon for Amtrak... buy one adult ticket and get one FREE! Sounds like the perfect excuse to get away to Portland with my main man. Bonus? Saw an article in The Seattle Times about how to score sweet deals when booking a hotel by April 1.

 

The plan? Sleep, eat, shop, get camera happy, and make time to see our college friends.

Beauty Finds

I've been using Clinique makeup for as long as I can remember. (And by makeup, I mean powder & blush.) The only other thing I wear is mascara, but I go for anything from the drugstore. (Don't judge!)

The other day, I got hounded stopped by the nice folks at Laura Mercier. The artist showed me some pretty basic steps to accentuating my deep-set eyes (who knew?) and I was impressed with how little time it seemed to take. However, I was still intimidated by the eyeliner she showed me, as it was liquid and required a brush to apply. Needless to say, I wasn't brave enough to leave with it!

Seeing as how I don't wear eyeshadow on a regular basis, I'm using this for balancing the color on my lids. I used it this morning - it totally looks like I'm wearing something, but I'm not! So deceiving!

I was in the market for some new lip gloss, and this one is great. It's not sticky and smells wonderful. The color is perfect, too.

Maybe these new finds will inspire me to do a little bit more with my makeup regime. Who knows?!

Weekend Rewind

Well, my faithful followers, what is the verdict?

Not the best picture, I know, but I'm pretty pleased with the end result. (As a reminder, this is what I was going for.) Added bonus? I was crazy comfortable the entire night. So comfortable, in fact, that bowling happened post-holiday party.

 

 Mr. Malone and I hit up brunch at Salty's on Saturday. Good Lord, how does one choose what to eat?! I cannot wait to go back - not only for the food, but for the view. We were pretty lucky that the rain stayed at bay while we were there.

After brunch, and after changing into sweatpants, Christmas came to the Malone household! No tree yet, but the dining & living rooms are complete.

And the weekend wouldn't have been complete without the Nordstrom holiday party. Mama Jewski and I sipped champagne while racking up the points. Looking forward to a Nordstrom Note (or two!) coming my way!

Fashionista?

Obviously, this is not me. (Unless I've been looking in some weird mirrors for the past 26 years.)

What this is, however, is the look I'm trying to achieve for my company's holiday party tomorrow night. I was planning on borrowing a dress from my sister, Julia, but just wasn't 100% about it. 

Lucky for me, I scored some sweet deals on the skirt & blouse - last minute, too!

My name is Lauren. And I am an addict.

Meet my new best friend - the Sterlite container. Fred Meyer had these on sale last night, 10 for $10. A DOLLAR EACH, PEOPLE! I picked up five to help contain our bathroom drawers and our abundance of cooking oils & vinegars.

And then this conversation occurred (after I had admired the pantry for the thousandth time) - 

Mr. Malone: "You are weird."

Me: "Well, I wouldn't want to see what your pantry looked like without me."

Mr. Malone: "I just think that if you had the option to do something else or organize, you would choose organizing."

He's {probably} right. Sue me.

I Have a Problem

I don't consider myself a big shopper. Well... I don't shop often, but I certainly know how to do some damage. Lately though, I just can't get enough of these websites: Rue La La, HauteLook & Gilt.

Pay shipping once and get FREE SHIPPING FOR 30 DAYS?! Why the hell wouldn't I buy a Brookstone travel pillow?!

I hope I get it together soon, otherwise the UPS guy is going to sign me up for therapy.
